Song Review: Sawan Bairi (Commando)

Image

This beautiful track belongs to the movie Commando which is directed by Dilip Gosh and produced by Vipul Shah. The music is given by Manan Shah and the lyrics are by Mayur Puri.

A soft romantic classical track which takes you back perhaps to the time of the Mughal Era where hearts filled with love can imagine the magnificent castles lit by dias, fountains in the background.

The Shahi musicians playing sitar and among this whole scene surrounds the mystical voice of Khan Saab.

In this track he uses soft tones of his voice and exhibits his extra ordinary expertise of classical notes.

The music launch of this movie was a very dramatic event and was held at Chandan Cinema in Juhu.

Song Review: Dil Ko Aya Sakoon (Rangrezz)

Dil Ko Aaya Sukoon (Rangrezz)

This song is from the movie Rangrezz and the music is given by Sajid-Wajid. The movie is produced by Vashu Bhagnani and the lyrics are by Sameer. Direction of the movie is done by Priya Darshan.

A crisp blend of Qawali with foot tapping music is a very trendy treat for the listeners. The lyrics compliment the music and the icing on the cake is Khan Saab’s melodious voice.
This song is different from his usual tracks as it has a blend of both qawali and modern music which will capture the hearts of both young and mature listeners.

We have heard of grand music launches taking place at 5 star hotels, at popular malls, but the makers of Rangrezz had the music launch of their film right amidst the masses in Dharavi.

Mel Gibson’s Take on Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s vocals were used in Mel Gibson’s hit Hollywood movie, ‘Apocalypto,’ in 2006.

Speaking of Khan, Gibson had stated:

“He’s a valuable asset to our soundtrack. His dulcet tones add emotion and drama, and we have a very narrow palette as far as orchestra. We don’t have an orchestra so he is fulfilling a lot of the functions that would usually be supplied by the use of a full orchestra. Just all in one man; he’s a one-man band.”

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sings for the Bollywood flick, ‘Son of Sardaar!’

‘Bichdann’ is not a quintessential Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song, and has given the singer a chance to experiment with his style by exposing various layers in his vocals. The tabla sounds really good with a tinge of techno beats thrown in here and there. The track is melodious and the lyrics by Sameer are extremely enjoyable. It also has a reprise version which is equally engaging, making it really hard to choose a winner amongst the two.It is followed by another song by the singer – ‘Yeh jo halki halki khumariya’. The lyrics by Irshad Kamil are an ace. Although it is a heavily Sufi track, the most interesting aspect are the guitar riffs in the background.
